Female Family Support Worker
Job Description
Responsible to: Centre Manager
Salary: To be negotiated
Direct Reports: Centre Manager
Location: Birmingham
Work Pattern:
Staff work to a rota published 8 weeks in advance. Staff are required to work: Day shift 07:00 to 15:00, Afternoon shift 14:00 to 22:00. Averaging 39 hours per week.
Please note you may be required to work overtime in addition to your normal hours if instructed, where business needs make it necessary.
Job Purpose:
To work as part of a team providing a confidential and supportive service to women and children experiencing domestic violence in our refuge. The role involves providing personal welfare support and ensuring a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment.
Main duties:
- Ensure women and children are made to feel welcome, safe, and comfortable upon admission. Assist with moving belongings into their allocated unit.
- Show new arrivals around the premises, settle them into accommodation, provide welcome packs, inform them of services, and handle documentation and queries.
- Communicate and enforce house rules, license agreements, and safety procedures.
- Maintain inventories and obtain signatures on admission and exit from residents.
- Assess benefit needs and facilitate prompt benefit uptake or transfer of housing and other benefits.
- Explore and assess housing needs with residents, inform them of options, and arrange appointments and advocacy as needed.
- Complete client support needs assessments, risk assessments, and management plans promptly to ensure quality service.
- Present assessments and plans for signing and discussion with management.
- Provide high-quality support services in line with Supporting People requirements, with individual support plans regularly reviewed.
- Record support plans accurately, including actions, outcomes, and review dates.
- Record support hours correctly for database input.
- Conduct weekly key work sessions, maintaining comprehensive records, and ensuring resident needs are met effectively.
