Overview

Are you interested in joining an innovative, high profile and dynamic team that prides itself on its excellent quality of care? We are offering an opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic dietitian with an interest in paediatrics to join and grow our friendly team. You will join a multi professional team of 9 Community Paediatric Dietitians and 1 Paediatric Nutrition Nurse, with excellent administration support. It is preferable that you have paediatric experience to be considered for a band 6 post, but not essential.

This is a clinical role working with children & families referred into the service by BCHC colleagues and GPs, as well as children discharged from acute units. This is an exciting time for Paediatric Dietitians in BCHC. We are about to move into an integrated Childrens service, whilst maintaining close links with dietetic colleagues. This award-winning service supports the training of dietetic students from 2 universities and staff regularly teach at Masters level. You will have a high degree of autonomy in your clinical practice and day-to-day organisation of your workload, within the context of supportive team of peers.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the Paediatric Dietitians within an integrated Children’s service, delivering clinical care to children and families referred to the service and to children discharged from acute units.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of autonomy in clinical practice and workload management within a supportive team.
  • Engage in training and development activities, including supervision, mentoring, CPD opportunities, research and project work.
  • Support the training of dietetic students from universities and contribute to teaching at Masters level.
  • Participate in governance, quality improvement, innovation and flexible ways of working.
  • Participate in liaison with other community children’s multidisciplinary teams and agencies to develop communication, negotiation, networking and promotion skills.
  • Take advantage of opportunities for supplementary prescribing (where applicable).

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Paediatric dietetics experience is preferred for a band 6 post but not essential.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Willingness to engage in clinical governance, appraisal, supervision, mentoring and CPD.
  • Desire to contribute to teaching, training and research activities.
