Overview
1.0 WTE (37.5 hours) Band 5 Senior Dental Nurse – Oral Surgery/Unscheduled Dental Care Department. Fixed term 18 months or secondment. Hours to be worked: Monday to Saturday between 8:00 and 20:00. This post involves working autonomously with significant discretion in clinical and staffing matters. The post holder will be part of Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC) with a focus on high-quality patient care and adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manage and develop the Dental Nurse Team to ensure smooth running of the service.
- Provide chairside support and assist the Dental Nurse Manager and Senior Dental Nurses in delivering undergraduate and post-graduate training and development of the service.
- Educate and develop dental nursing teams to respond to the complex needs of patients across the service.
- Support the clinical specialty to maintain a high standard of patient care and ensure compliance with all Trust policies.
- Collaborate with the Dental Nurse Managers, Dental Matrons and Clinical Leads to enable effective service delivery.
- Prepare for shortlisting and selection processes in line with BCHC procedures.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Experience as a Dental Nurse with leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a team with discretion on clinical and staffing issues.
- Strong organisational and leadership capabilities; commitment to high standards of patient care.
- Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate training and development within the service.
- Understanding of and compliance with NHS policies and procedures.
