Senior Lecturer Head of Singing

Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC), part of Birmingham City University, wishes to recruit a Senior Lecturer Head of Singing. The post holder will be an active member of the academic management team and will teach and co-ordinate singing classes across all courses.

RBC is seeking an individual who has expertise in the teaching of singing to actors, rooted in Estill Voice Craft. The full-time post will be key to the development of contemporary music theatre in the RBC Acting curriculum. As we review our overall provision, this is an exciting time to be part of the team involved in these potential new course developments.

You will be responsible for the sourcing and management of a range of Visiting Tutors of Singing and accompanists.

The capacity to work as an accompanist and an MD would be an advantage.

While this is primarily a teaching post, opportunities to develop a research profile are available.

• Hold a teaching degree or diploma or be prepared to work towards a BCU Post Graduate Certificate. Educated to a Higher Academic Qualification Specialist experience in the teaching of Singing to actors Strong Organisational skills The flexibility to work occasionally outside normal office hours Excellent written and verbal communication skills Be able to demonstrate an understanding of issues relating to equal opportunity and diversity, as they relate to actor training, teaching and curriculum developments Leadership skills and an ability to collaborate.
