We are seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Manager / Quantity Surveyor to join our Estates team and help maintain and enhance a large university estate.
The Role
- Manage term maintenance and minor works contracts, ensuring value for money, compliance with procurement regulations, and high-quality service delivery.
- Working closely with the Head of Development, provide cost estimates for minor and medium works and support feasibility studies for larger projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer term maintenance and minor works contracts.
- Prepare tenders, oversee procurement, and evaluate contractor bids.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with KPIs.
- Control costs, manage budgets, valuations, and final accounts.
- Provide cost estimates and financial reporting for Estates projects.
- Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and consultants.
- Lead contract negotiations and manage variations.
- Ensure compliance with procurement, health & safety, and university policies.
- Drive continuous improvement in contract management processes.
About You
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar.
- RICS member (or equivalent).
- Proven experience managing term contracts in a public sector or university environment.
- Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
- Experience managing hard FM / estates contracts.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and reporting skills.
- Confident working independently and influencing key stakeholders.
