The Role: Reporting Accountant

As Reporting Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation and submission of key statutory returns, including the Annual Financial Return (AFR) and TRAC, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and meeting all deadlines. You will provide supporting analysis to the University Executive Team and relevant committees, ensuring returns are appropriately reviewed and approved. A key focus will be on improving efficiency by identifying automation opportunities and streamlining processes. You\’ll also manage balance sheet and cash flow forecasting, integrate these with budget and management accounts, and maintain the tuition fee income forecasting model. The role involves maintaining accurate system hierarchies, producing reconciliations between forecast and actual tuition and grant income, and working closely with stakeholders across the University to optimise reporting. You\’ll support governance by scheduling and coordinating TRAC Oversight Group meetings, stay up to date with technical guidance, and contribute to continuous improvement. The position also includes deputising for the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis as needed.
