We are looking for a qualified Electrical Engineer to support the Senior Electrical Engineers in maintaining and improving electrical systems across the University estate. This role involves day-to-day maintenance, fault finding, compliance checks, and supporting project work.
You will help ensure our electrical infrastructure remains safe, efficient and compliant, while supporting capital projects and contributing to sustainability goals.
What you will be doing:
- Supporting the operation and maintenance of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, lifts, CCTV and emergency lighting
- Carrying out inspections, fault finding and diagnostic surveys
- Supporting the monitoring, testing and commissioning of contractor works
- Assisting with electrical design and installation for refurbishment and new build projects
- Helping with handover and training for new systems
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation using CAFM systems
- Supporting compliance with health and safety and statutory regulations
- Promoting energy-efficient solutions across the estate
What we are looking for:
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Understanding of HV/LV systems, BMS, and electrical safety protocols
- Experience with fire alarm, access control, security and CCTV systems
- Knowledge of lift installations
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise work
- Good communication skills and ability to work flexibly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Membership of IET or similar professional body
- Experience working in large estates or public sector settings
- Experience of energy reduction initiatives
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM and IT network distribution
- Knowledge of UPS, CHP and generator systems
