Role Summary
The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) Enterprise Officer will provide essential support to the RBC Professional Engagements Team and contribute to the Conservatoire’s broader enterprise and engagement activities.
A primary responsibility is the continued development and expansion of the Conservatoire’s ‘Book a Musician’ service, ensuring a high‑quality and professional experience for students, graduates and external clients.
The postholder will also support a parallel booking service for Acting and contribute to the establishment of a new Teaching Agency.
The role encompasses support for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes, Summer Schools, and preparation of institutional reporting related to knowledge exchange and innovation funding.
Key Responsibilities
- Professional Engagements
- Act as a point of contact for external clients seeking to engage RBC Music and Acting students and graduates.
- Develop client relationships and identify new business opportunities to increase professional performance opportunities.
- Coordinate bookings, contracts, invoices, payments, travel, and accommodation arrangements.
- Liaise with academic staff to identify suitable performers and maintain records of eligible musicians.
- Negotiate engagement fees in line with industry standards and relevant regulations.
- Monitor budgets and maintain accurate financial and administrative records.
- Ensure compliance with UKVI and University procedures relating to student employment.
- Collect and analyse feedback from clients and students to improve services.
- Enterprise and Engagement Support
- Assist in the delivery of CPD programmes and Summer Schools.
- Support enterprise and engagement initiatives across the Conservatoire.
- Gather and report data for HE-BCI, KEF and HEIF requirements.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
Qualifications
- Degree in Music or Acting, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of classical music, repertoire and instrumentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Experience in a busy administrative role, ideally within the creative arts, cultural or higher education sector.
- Experience of financial administration and enterprise systems such as Oracle.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
