Role Summary
- We are seeking a
- OIE
- Project Support Officer to join our
Office for Institutional Equity , to support the delivery of the University and EDI Strategy by providing high‑quality programme and project coordination across a portfolio of initiatives aimed at reducing inequalities, improving student and staff outcomes, and embedding an inclusive culture.
In this role, you will contribute directly to strategic priorities such as closing awarding gaps, improving access and participation, enhancing staff diversity, and strengthening inclusive practices across the university.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects aligned to key University and EDI strategic priorities (e. g. access, success, progression, representation, inclusive culture).
- Maintain project plans, risk registers, and delivery timelines to ensure progress against strategic objectives.
- Track milestones and support reporting against KPIs linked to the University Strategy and EDI Strategy.
- Support preparation of reports for University committees and governance structures.
- Assist in monitoring progress against Access and Participation Plans and EDI action plans.
- Coordinate engagement activities (e. g. consultations, focus groups, workshops) to ensure diverse voices inform institutional change.
- Organise meetings, events, and institutional initiatives linked to EDI and strategic priorities.
Essential Requirements
- Degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience supporting projects or programmes linked to organisational strategy.
- Able to coordinate activity across multiple stakeholders.
- Experience providing administrative and organisational support in a complex environment.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to monitor progress against plans and support delivery of strategic objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in relation to student and staff outcomes.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in UK higher education, particularly in a widening participation context.
- Familiarity with Access and Participation Plans and EDI charter frameworks (e. g. Race Equality Charter, Disability Confident, Athena Swan).
- Experience supporting strategy delivery or change initiatives.
- Awareness of regulatory context including Office for Students expectations.
