This vacancy is open exclusively to graduates of Birmingham City University from the 2024/25 and 2025/26 academic years. To be eligible, you must have completed your course (or be due to complete your course) between 1 August 2024 and 31 July 2026, and you must no longer be studying.
Role Summary: We are seeking a fixed-term Associate Sports Technician to join our Sports Technical Team, supporting the delivery of high-quality services for the department of Life Sciences and Sports. The post is open to new or recent BCU Sports graduates only and is available from September 2026, for a period of 9 months, as part of our grow-your-own graduate employability scheme.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with learning and teaching activities in different environments such as workshops, laboratories and other specialist spaces as needed.
- Assist in the demonstration of the use of a range of equipment to students.
- Set up equipment, rooms and materials as required by senior technicians.
- Support students with developing key skills.
- Assist in occasional outreach and school activities outside core hours.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree from BCU in a Sports-related subject.
- Awareness and some knowledge of relevant sports equipment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Some knowledge of sports sciences/sports therapy and sports technology.
- Awareness of the importance of outreach and wider technical support activities that contribute to service excellence.
- Ability to pass on practical skills to colleagues and students through demonstration and teaching.
