We are looking for a Bar and Events Assistant to join the team at The Pavilion. In this role, you will support the delivery of a wide range of events and bar services, helping to create a welcoming, professional, and enjoyable experience for students, staff, and external customers. You will play a key part in ensuring all spaces are prepared and maintained to a high standard, while delivering excellent customer service at all times. The role involves working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, supporting bar operations, event set-ups, and maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism. This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives under pressure, and takes pride in delivering great service.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent customer service to students, staff, and external customers
  • Prepare and serve drinks in line with licensing regulations
  • Operate the till, take orders, and process payments accurately
  • Restock the bar and maintain stock levels during service
  • Collect glassware and carry out cleaning duties throughout shifts
  • Assist with event set-up, room layouts, and breakdowns
  • Support the delivery of internal and external sports and events
  • Work effectively as part of a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety at all times
  • Carry out manual handling tasks as required
  • Undertake any duties delegated by the Bar Supervisor

The post holder must be 18 years of age or over. Experience of bar work and events is required. The post holder must be flexible to work Monday to Sunday, including daytime, evening and late-night shifts. Basic knowledge of licensing laws and experience working large scale events is preferred.
