Role Summary: The role includes teaching across our Childhood, Youth and Community provision at undergraduate and postgraduate level, with particular contribution to programmes such as Early Childhood Studies, Education Studies, and Working with Children, Young People and Families. The successful candidate will contribute to developing critically informed, inclusive and professionally relevant learning experiences that prepare students to work within education, family support, childhood, youth and community contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach across undergraduate and postgraduate modules within Childhood, Youth and Community provision, particularly within Early Childhood Studies, Education Studies, and Working with Children, Young People and Families.
  • Plan, deliver and assess high quality teaching that engages students with contemporary debates in childhood, education, family support, safeguarding, inclusion, social justice and community practice.
  • Support students’ academic development, professional identity formation and wellbeing through effective Personal Academic Tutoring, pastoral support and inclusive teaching approaches.
  • Contribute to curriculum development that reflects contemporary research, policy and practice across education, childhood, youth and family sectors.
  • Embed themes such as safeguarding, equity, diversity, inclusion, anti‑racist practice, sustainability and social justice within teaching, assessment and curriculum design.
  • Create learning environments that encourage critical reflection on the experiences of children, young people, families and communities within local, national and global contexts.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, placement providers, schools, community organisations and external stakeholders to enhance student learning and employability.
  • Contribute to module leadership, course enhancement, quality assurance and continuous improvement activities across programmes.
  • Participate in research, scholarship and/or professional practice activity relevant to education, childhood, youth, family or community studies.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative departmental culture that values inclusion, creativity, reflective practice and educational excellence.
  • Support the wider student experience through engagement in activities beyond teaching, including Personal Academic Tutoring, recruitment and outreach activity, Open Days, applicant engagement, educational visits, trips and initiatives that strengthen student belonging, engagement and success.
