Grade: GBCU is seeking an Apprenticeship Compliance Manager to join our Directorate of Student and Academic Services team to oversee day‐to‐day operations and ensure high standards of regulatory compliance across all areas of apprenticeship delivery and contractual obligations.

The Directorate of Student and Academic Services (SAAS) leads on the development and provision of outstanding student‐facing services. The Directorate is responsible for ensuring that students have an excellent experience and provides services across the student and academic lifecycle from enrolment to graduation, covering everything from wellbeing services to ensuring new courses are set up correctly. The Directorate is at the centre of a transformation programme as we seek to make services which underpin our student experience more efficient and effective.

The full‐time starting salary is normally £44,131.00 per annum, with progression available in post to £51,182.00 per annum.

The Apprenticeship Compliance Manager Will Be Responsible For:

  • Ensuring apprenticeship compliance monitoring activities are completed to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Coordinating and preparing for Ofsted inspections.
  • Managing apprenticeship contracting processes with employers and funding bodies.
  • Developing and maintaining processes and documentation relating to apprenticeship compliance.
  • Providing training and guidance to staff on apprenticeship compliance matters.
  • Identifying and resolving issues or risks related to apprenticeship compliance in a timely manner.
  • Supporting continuous improvement in compliance processes and standards, reporting to senior management and contributing to strategic planning.

The Apprenticeship Compliance Manager Will Have:

  • Experience of managing apprenticeship compliance within a regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of apprenticeship contracting and funding requirements.
  • Experience preparing for Ofsted inspections or equivalent regulatory audits.
  • Good understanding of apprenticeship delivery and administration processes.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement compliance policies and procedures.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience of recruiting, leading and managing a high‐performing team.

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
