The Marketing, Media & Brand department plays a central role in telling the story of Birmingham City Football Club. From matchdays and player content to campaigns, partnerships and supporter engagement, the team is responsible for growing the Club’s reach and strengthening its connection with fans around the world. Working collaboratively across creative, video, commercial and communications teams, the department delivers innovative campaigns and world-class content that reflects the ambition and identity of Birmingham City FC.
About the Role
Working closely with the Social Media Manager, you will help deliver and evolve the social media strategy for Birmingham City Women across all platforms. You will take ownership of the women’s social channels, helping to grow audiences, increase engagement and create content that cuts through the noise. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying new opportunities, creating engaging content, supporting long-form storytelling and building stronger connections between the team and supporters. This role requires a highly organised and creative individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about women’s football, digital culture and audience growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of Birmingham City Women’s social media strategy across all channels.
- Take ownership of day-to-day content planning, scheduling and publishing for the Women’s team social accounts.
- Develop innovative and engaging content ideas designed to grow reach, impressions and audience engagement.
- Work closely with the Social Media Manager and Blues+ team to improve long-form and YouTube content output, including YouTube Community scheduling.
- Explore new ways to attract audiences beyond the traditional football space.
- Act as the main contact for Women’s social media requests across the Club.
- Lead on the creation and distribution of fan-led content across platforms.
- Tailor content specifically for each social platform to maximise performance and engagement.
- Capture content to a high standard alongside the video and content teams.
- Stay ahead of social media trends, emerging platforms and digital best practice.
- Maintain a tone of voice aligned with the Club’s brand and values.
- Support the development of commercial and sponsored social media opportunities.
- Monitor and report on key social media KPIs, using insights and analytics to inform future content decisions.
- Assist the wider Marketing team with campaign planning and execution.
- Build strong working relationships with players and staff to support content creation opportunities.
About You
We are looking for a highly creative and motivated individual who can bring fresh ideas, energy and ambition to our Women’s Team content output. You will have:
- A qualification in marketing, media, digital or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven experience managing social media platforms and delivering measurable growth.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage content calendars well in advance.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms and platform-specific content strategies.
- Experience using analytics, monitoring and reporting tools to shape content performance.
- Outstanding copywriting and proofreading skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite and social media content tools.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment.
- A proactive attitude with a strong eye for detail.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within football or elite sport.
- Video editing skills.
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and content management systems.
- Experience managing paid social campaigns and above-the-line advertising.
