Birmingham City Football Club has long been recognised for creating one of the most intense, intimidating and exciting atmospheres in football. For more than two decades, a consistent and recognisable voice has played a major role in shaping that identity and now we are searching for the next ‘Voice or Voices of St. Andrew’s’.
The Club is recruiting a stadium PA Announcer for the Men’s First Team for the 2026/27 season. This is a key matchday role that contributes significantly to the overall fan experience, helping to set the tone, engage supporters, and work collaboratively with the wider presentation and production team to enhance the atmosphere inside the stadium.
We are seeking an individual who is available for all men’s home fixtures, demonstrates professionalism and commitment, prepares thoroughly, and can confidently improvise and adapt when required in a live environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Match Duties
- Review and prepare all matchday scripts and running orders provided by the Club’s production team
- Contribute ideas and creative input to suitable matchday segments
- Attend all relevant production meetings and rehearsals
- Deliver clear, engaging, and energetic announcements throughout the pre-match build-up
- Matchday Presentation
- Deliver announcements and presentation elements in line with the matchday running order
- Introduce matchday content, activations, and entertainment segments
- Lead crowd engagement moments and contribute to the stadium atmosphere
- Announce team news, player introductions, and key match moments
- Work closely with the in-stadium DJ, production staff, and Fan Experience team to ensure seamless delivery
- In-Game Responsibilities
- Announce substitutions, added time, attendance figures, and other operational updates
- Deliver goal announcements and score updates with appropriate tone and professionalism
- Adapt delivery style depending on match context and atmosphere
- Support half-time and post-match activations where required
What to Expect on Matchday
- Match Preparation
- Finalised scripts are typically distributed two days before matchday (MD-2)
- Opportunity to review content and collaborate on sections that may require improvisation or live interaction
- Arrival & Production
- Arrival time: approximately 2.5 hours before kick-off
- Attendance at a full production meeting involving: Producer/Director, Field Management/Runners, Audio Engineer, Screen Operator, In-Stadium DJ, Other relevant contributors
- Rehearsals and sound checks may take place prior to gates opening
- Matchday communications equipment will be distributed during this period
- Matchday Timeline
- Gates open: 1.5 hours before kick-off
- PA Announcer expected in position on pitch no later than 75 minutes before kick-off
- Pre-match presentation runs from approximately 60 minutes before kick-off through to team walkout

- Essential:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in presenting, announcing, broadcasting, or live events
- Excellent verbal communication and microphone presence
- Confident operating in a live, high-pressure environment
- Strong organisational and preparation skills
- Ability to engage large audiences with energy and authenticity
- Desirable:
- Previous experience within professional sport or live entertainment
- Strong connection to Birmingham and understanding of the Club’s fan culture
- Experience working within live production or event presentation teams

- Stage 1 – Application Submission

- Applications will initially be reviewed by the People Team and Fan Experience Team.
- Stage 2 – Interview
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview with members of the Fan Experience and Event Presentation team to assess: Relevant experience, Presentation style, Personality and communication skills, Suitability for a live stadium environment
- Stage 3 – Final Selection Panel
- Final candidates will be presented to an internal selection panel, potentially including representatives from: Fan Experience/Event Presentation, Event Production, Senior Leadership Team, Communications, Commercial and/or Social Media departments
- The process may also include a live stadium audition or matchday trial.
