Birmingham City FC is undergoing significant growth and transformation, supported by major investment across football, commercial, and community operations. As part of the Sports Quarter project, the Club is building for long-term success by enhancing its people, culture, performance environment, and infrastructure.

The Academy Coach will lead the development of a designated Academy age group (U9–U16), delivering high-quality coaching in line with the Club’s philosophy and Academy Performance Plan.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, delivering, and reviewing training sessions and match programmes.
  • Managing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and player review processes.
  • Monitoring player progress, attendance, performance data, and succession planning.
  • Providing feedback reports and supporting trialist assessments.
  • Using video analysis and performance data to inform player development.
  • Collaborating with coaching, analysis, sports science, safeguarding, and wider academy staff.
  • Supporting logistics, resources, CPD activities, and compliance with PL/EFL Academy standards.

About You

Essential

  • UEFA B Licence
  • FA Youth Award
  • Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF)
  • FA Safeguarding Certification
  • Experience coaching in academy football and developing young players
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and coaching skills

Desirable

  • UEFA A Licence
  • Coaching-related degree, QTS, or FA Advanced Youth Award
  • Previous experience across U9–U16 age groups
  • Professional playing experience
  • Full UK driving licence
