Birmingham City Football Club is seeking an innovative and detail-driven Set Piece Coach to join the Men’s First Team technical staff. This is a specialist coaching role responsible for driving excellence in both attacking and defensive set-piece performance, contributing directly to match outcomes and the Club’s competitive ambitions.
Working closely with the First Team Manager and wider performance staff, you will lead the design, delivery and evolution of set-piece strategy, ensuring Birmingham City FC remains progressive, prepared and tactically sharp across all phases of the game. This is a high-impact role within an elite football environment, requiring strong tactical insight, coaching presence and the ability to translate analysis into clear, effective on-pitch outcomes.
About the Role
The First Team Set Piece Coach will take ownership of all set-piece planning and delivery across the First Team programme. You will analyse upcoming opponents, develop innovative routines tailored to the squad’s strengths, and deliver high-quality coaching sessions that maximise performance in both attacking and defensive situations. You will also play a key role on matchdays, providing real-time insight and tactical adjustments while maintaining a clear understanding of trends and developments across elite football.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse upcoming opponents’ set-piece tendencies, identifying strengths, weaknesses and tactical opportunities.
- Design and implement defensive strategies to counter opposition set-piece threats.
- Deliver clear coaching around positioning, marking assignments and defensive organisation.
