Birmingham City Football Club is on the rise. With an incredible history dating back to 1875, Birmingham City Football Club is part of an exciting period of accelerated growth and modernisation, and is playing its part in a once-in-a-generation opportunity to support the transformation of England’s second city as part of the Sports Quarter project. With significant investment across our football, commercial, and community operations, we are rebuilding the Club for long-term success — on and off the pitch. The journey we’re on involves strengthening our structures, elevating our performance environments, growing our teams, and investing heavily in the people, processes and culture that will define the next chapter of Birmingham City FC.
We are seeking a talented and creative Motion Designer to join the Brand and Creative team within the Fan Experience team, responsible for producing engaging, high-quality visual content that brings the club’s identity to life across all platforms. Alongside motion design, you will also contribute to a range of wider creative outputs, supporting non-motion design projects as required. This role will play a key part in delivering dynamic visual content for digital channels, matchday screens, social media, commercial partners, and major club campaigns. You will thrive in a fast-paced, football-first environment where content must be produced quickly, accurately, and at a consistently high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver motion graphics for social media, digital campaigns, in-stadium screens, and matchday output.
- Create a wide variety of animated assets including player features, promotional videos, transitions, lower thirds, scoreboards, and branded graphics packages.
- Support non-motion design projects such as social graphics, campaign artwork, presentations, and digital assets where required.
- Take a proactive approach to creativity by contributing ideas, improving processes, and identifying new ways to evolve the club’s content.
- Work closely with design, video, marketing, and communications teams to ensure creative output aligns with the club’s brand identity and tone of voice.
- Develop compelling visual storytelling that connects with supporters across multiple platforms.
- Support live matchday operations, creating pre-match videos, in-game graphics, and post-match content.
- Collaborate with the commercial and partnerships teams to develop sponsor-led creative and animated packages.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines aligned with fixtures and events.
- Maintain and organise project files, templates, and motion asset libraries to ensure efficient workflows.
- Stay informed on design trends, football culture, platform updates, and emerging animation technologies.
What You’ll Bring To This Role:
- Experience as a Motion Designer, ideally within sport, entertainment, or a fast-moving creative environment.
- Skills in both motion design and static design for digital and print.
- Experience in Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Ability to adapt creative style to suit brand guidelines and campaign objectives.
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong storytelling mindset.
- Experience in 3D software such as Cinema 4D or Blender (Desirable).
What We Offer:
- 23 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
- Contributory pension scheme.
- 2 Match tickets to every Men’s match.
