The Prison Library Service at HMP Birmingham requires a Library Assistant to undertake a wide variety of duties including delivering an efficient and effective front line customer experience, assisting with communication, outreach and promotional activities including visits, events, displays and much more.
Contract type: Fixed Term Contract
Role responsibilities:
- Assist with monitoring and evaluation of service provision, including collecting and collating statistical information.
- Provide a basic behaviour management function, working closely with establishment staff and prisoners.
- Undertake a wide variety of library tasks to a competent level, using own initiative at relevant times.
- Support delivery of projects and services to a diverse section of society, working toward strategic targets.
- Engage in communication, outreach and promotional activities as part of library duties.
Knowledge and experience:
- Knowledge of library work would be preferable.
Terms and location:
- This post has been created in response to a flexible working arrangement request and is subject to review after 12 months.
- Working hours are 12.5 hours per week – Thursdays 7.30am – 4.00pm and Fridays 7.30am – 12.00pm.
- Location: HMP Birmingham, Birmingham City Council.
