Are you an experienced Environmental Health Officer or newly qualified? We are seeking highly motivated and passionate officers to join Birmingham City Council’s expanding Environmental Health team.
Job Summary
As a member of the Environmental Health team, you will undertake investigations, conduct inspections, and enforce a wide range of statutory provisions aimed at protecting and improving public health and the environment across Birmingham.
Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental health investigations in food safety, health and safety, statutory nuisance, and public health.
- Enforce environmental health legislation and statutory provisions.
- Communicate effectively with residents, businesses, colleagues, and partner agencies.
- Prioritise and manage workload to meet deadlines in a busy environment with competing demands.
- Work flexibly, including some work outside normal officer hours.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree/BSc/MSc in Environmental Health recognised by the CIEH.
- Knowledge and practical experience in enforcement of environmental health legislation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills at all levels.
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload to meet deadlines in a busy environment.
- Must have a driver’s licence and be expected to travel within Birmingham, for which drivers will be remunerated for car use.
