The role is hybrid; however the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate. Birmingham City Council is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Children and Families Directorate as Child Employment and Entertainment Licensing Officers. In this vital role, you will be part of a dynamic team working to ensure that children engaged in employment and performances are safe and free from exploitation. If you have a strong background in working with schools, agencies, and employers, and a commitment to safeguarding, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
- Raise awareness and enforce legislation regarding child employment and performance licensing.
- Advise employers, respond to enquiries, and ensure that licences for child performances and chaperones are issued within the required timeframe.
- Conduct supervision visits.
- Inspect accommodation for children in entertainment.
- Provide information sessions about child employment and licensing.
Qualifications:
- We are looking for candidates with a Level 4 qualification or equivalent, and experience working with schools, educational settings, agencies, employers, and families.
- You should have strong administrative skills, the ability to work on your own initiative, and effective time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will be drafting reports, delivering presentations, and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A thorough knowledge of child employment legislation and a commitment to professional development are also key requirements for this role.
