Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of Compliance Officers, providing clear direction and support.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (Housing Act 2004 and Anti‑Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014), regulations and internal policies.
  • Deliver a programme of compliance inspections.
  • Provide authoritative advice, guidance, and support to colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Investigate escalated complaints and enquiries, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Represent the property licensing service internally and externally, building strong partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Support budget planning and ensure quality assurance of documents and decisions.
  • Remain vigilant to risks including fraud, safeguarding, and safety concerns, making referrals where appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven leadership and management experience within compliance, regulation and enforcement.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks, particularly within the private rented sector.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor, train, and develop staff to achieve high performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage complex cases.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence.
