Responsibilities
- Lead the Council's relationship with Birmingham Museums Trust, including contract management, performance and value for money.
- Oversee the reopening of Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, coordinating across council services and partners.
- Lead the development and delivery of the Council's Heritage Strategy, aligned to planning and policy frameworks.
- Secure major external investment through heritage funding bids.
- Oversee the delivery and governance of funded heritage programmes and capital projects.
- Act as the Council's senior professional lead on museums, heritage and conservation.
- Build strong partnerships locally, regionally and nationally.
Qualifications
- Experience in heritage, museums, archaeology, cultural policy or a related field.
- Strong experience managing contracts or commissioned cultural services.
- Proven success in securing heritage or capital funding.
- Experience developing heritage or cultural strategies and policies.
- Knowledge of heritage planning and conservation frameworks.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects, finances and risk in a public‑sector environment.
