About the role
Birmingham City Council are looking for a highly motivated and experienced manager to support the leadership of the Accommodation Finding Service. This is a key operational role where you will help drive the delivery of effective housing solutions, supporting the Council to meet its statutory homelessness duties and wider housing priorities.
You will play an important role in sourcing and securing suitable accommodation across the city, with a focus on developing Private Rented Sector (PRS) opportunities and alternative housing solutions.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-impact frontline service, helping to reduce reliance on temporary accommodation and respond to increasing demand and complex housing needs.

What you will be doing
In this operational management role, you will:
- Support the day-to-day operation and ongoing development of the Accommodation Finding Service
- Drive the growth of a diverse property portfolio, including Private Rented Sector (PRS) accommodation and alternative housing solutions
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with landlords, housing providers, and key stakeholders
- Ensure all accommodation meets statutory requirements and agreed service standards
- Support the delivery of property standards, inspection processes, and compliance frameworks
- Contribute to service performance monitoring, using data and insight to improve outcomes and efficiency
- Lead on landlord engagement, including negotiating incentives to secure suitable accommodation
- Support the development of innovative approaches to increasing housing supply and improving service delivery
- Manage, motivate and develop staff, embedding a high-performing and customer-focused culture
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to maximise housing opportunities and improve customer outcomes
About you
We are looking for a confident and experienced manager who can operate effectively in a complex and fast-paced environment.
You will bring:
- Experience at management level in business development, sales, housing, or a related field
- A proven track record of delivering growth and achieving targets in a performance-driven environment
- Strong leadership and people management experience, with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships
- Experience of working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills to secure housing solutions
- Good commercial awareness and the ability to deliver value for money
- Experience of using data and insight to drive service improvement
- Knowledge of Private Rented Sector, homelessness, and relevant housing legislation
- Experience of supporting change and improving service delivery in a complex organisation
