Overview
Senior leader in the Council’s Community Safety service, responsible for delivering frontline safety services citywide. You will coordinate internal delivery and multi-agency operations, focusing on reducing anti-social behaviour and crime while evidencing outcomes. The role drives performance, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement, collaborating with police, housing providers and other partners to keep communities safe. You will translate strategic priorities into practical, high-impact interventions and safeguarding responses.

Responsibilities
- Provide clear, visible leadership across internal teams with consistent standards and high-quality service
- Oversee anti-social behaviour and crime response to ensure reliable service delivery
- Lead operational approach to ASB, collaborating with Housing services
- Guide community safety activities related to supported exempt accommodation
- Ensure effective use of legislation, especially Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014
- Drive intelligence-led interventions (hotspot patrols, street teams)
- Build and maintain partnerships with police, housing providers, and stakeholders
- Lead performance management, risk, and quality assurance across services
- Oversee defensible case management frameworks and safeguarding responses
- Lead, develop, and support a team of managers and staff, with recruitment and performance management
- Ensure compliance with financial, governance, safeguarding and statutory requirements
Key requirements
- Significant experience in community safety, ASB, enforcement, or crime reduction services
- Strong leadership with track record of managing teams and delivering improvements
- Experience delivering crime and harm-reduction initiatives
- Collaborative work with public sector, partners and stakeholders
- Ability to manage high-risk and sensitive operational issues
- Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Data-driven approach to performance management and decision-making
- Knowledge of community safety landscape and relevant legislation (ASBCP Act 2014; Crime and Disorder Act 1998)
