We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our multi-disciplinary Public Health Division as a Programme Officer in the Governance team. Our Public Health team is part of the largest local authority in the country, working with one of the most globally diverse and youngest populations in Europe. The Public Health Division is leading work that contributes to Birmingham being a great city that enables people to live healthy and active lives. The Public Health Division is engaged in a dynamic and diverse range of innovative work and partnerships at local, regional, national, and international levels. The Governance team ensures that the Public Health Division complies with legal requirements regarding data and information governance. The Governance team supports the strategic and operational development of Public Health's statutory functions.

The Programme Officer will support the Senior Programme Officer with the strategic and operational development of the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy and the delivery of the Director of Public Health Annual Report. They will also assist the Service Lead with coordinating Health and Wellbeing Board meetings, working across the Public Health Division and with external partners. The role will include monitoring progress against associated strategies and identifying areas for collaboration.

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic individual with key skills that can be applied to support understanding and address the city's public health challenges. The role of the Public Health officer within the Governance team will support the coordination and delivery of core governance functions, including Public Health governance processes, performance monitoring, and risk management. The role will contribute to key work areas such as Population Health Impact Assessments, Information Governance, and statutory responsibilities including awareness of the Health & Wellbeing Board and the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment.

The postholder will work collaboratively with Public Health colleagues and wider council teams to ensure compliance, effective partnership working, and continuous improvement across services. The position is a permanent role on a full-time basis.
