Join our vibrant multi-disciplinary Public Health team in Birmingham, the largest Local Authority in the country. We are looking for a Public Health Support Officer to help enhance the health and wellbeing of our community through the Bolder Healthier Programme. This position is part of the Bolder Healthier Programme Team within the Head of Office. The team is engaged in dynamic and diverse work with citizens of Birmingham, building on the success of our Covid Champion work to cascade public health information among community connectors. Public health expertise will be used in a matrix way with the wider team and with effective communication with our champions. You will also provide support at public health events, webinars and other public facing events and support the Communications and Engagement Team to ensure effective communication between the council and citizens within Birmingham.
Responsibilities
- You will support the team colleagues in the development of evidence-based projects to address health inequalities in the city, influence work to reduce demand and improve the health and wellbeing of groups, and provide support for public health events, webinars, and other public facing events.
- You will also support the Communications and Engagement Team to ensure effective communication between the council and citizens.
- You will plan and organise events, meetings and workshops from design stage to implementation.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in understanding Public Health priorities and the relevant policy environment.
- Ability to manage projects and scope projects with aims, objectives and milestones, underpinned by effective IT skills.
- Knowledge and experience of identifying and analysing a wide range of data sets and other intelligence to inform work and communicate information and concepts to a diversity of audiences.
- Preparing reports and presentations through collation and analysis of data to inform decision making.
- Planning and organising events, meetings and workshops from design stage to implementation.
- Sound communication skills including the ability to make use of different types of social media.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing demands.
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a diverse team, providing cover when needed to ensure continuity of service provision.
- A motivated and enthusiastic self-starter willing to learn new concepts and take on additional learning and training where required.
