As a Performance Review Officer, you’ll drive the insights that help our homes meet Decent Homes and Building Safety Regulator standards—making a real, measurable difference for residents across the city. Birmingham City Council is seeking a Performance Review Officer to join our Planned Maintenance Team within Capital Asset Management. This is a key role for someone who enjoys analysing data, improving performance processes, and helping services deliver the best possible outcomes for tenants and residents.
As part of the team, you will take responsibility for a designated specialist area, leading on performance management, business information production, customer satisfaction analysis, and quality management reviews. The role involves working closely with senior managers, internal teams, and contractors to ensure high-quality, reliable performance information is available across capital planned maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead on the production, monitoring and analysis of performance information, including Power BI reporting.
- Collect, collate and present data for Best Value reviews, Tenants’ Quality Promise (TQP), and other formal performance reviews.
- Compile and update internal and external performance measures and contracts.
- Present performance reports to Senior Management Teams and Members.
- Make recommendations on performance management strategies and best practice standards.
- Support managers in compiling performance information and managing externally commissioned research.
- Conduct audits, investigations and statistical analyses, producing forecasts and trend reports.
- Prepare training materials and contribute to seminars on performance management.
- Create user-friendly graphical outputs and develop databases to support reporting.
We’re looking for someone who can work independently, think analytically, and communicate clearly. The person specification highlights the need for:
- Ability to work consultatively with colleagues to develop good practice in performance management.
- Strong skills in producing clear management information and performance reports (including Power BI).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting and minute-taking.
- Proven ability to analyse and present statistical trends using appropriate IT tools.
- Understanding of database design and reporting routines.
- Ability to respond to changing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Knowledge or experience of housing legislation and current initiatives.
- Confidence in using Microsoft Office and statistical/reporting software.
