Language Learning and Strategic Support Teacher
Join Birmingham City Council as a Language Learning and Strategic Support Teacher. The role is permanent, full‑time, 32.5 hours per week, on Statutory Teacher’s Pay and Conditions Main Scale 6 to Upper Pay Scale 3.
Language, Learning and Strategic Support Teachers work with nursery, primary and secondary schools to support them in meeting the needs of children with cognition, learning and language difficulties, including those with Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. They also provide strategic support to SENCos and senior leaders, building staff capacity through planning, training delivery, policy advising and monitoring provision, aiming to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist support in schools for children with cognition, learning and language difficulties, including Dyslexia and Dyscalculia.
- Provide strategic support to SENCos and senior leaders in planning and delivery of training, policy and procedure development, and monitoring of SEND provision.
- Collaborate with other SEND teams within the Local Authority to support the strategic direction of the Local Authority.
- Maintain a high safeguarding and welfare standard, sharing commitment with all staff.
- Collect and analyse data to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified teacher with experience of leading SEND.
- Passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.
- Desire to gain further professional qualifications or develop a career within SEND.
