Hours & Working Pattern: 32.5 hours per week – Term Time Only – Permanent. Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (Other patterns may be considered).

Job Summary: This role supports pupils with cognition and communication difficulties and Autism in a vibrant, high energy community. The Teaching Assistant will assist in delivering a bespoke education, promote confidence and champion communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate unspoken communication using sensory and trauma‑informed approaches, personalised communication strategies, and creative technology.
- Celebrate progress, e.g., children making first eye contact, sharing a resource or mastering a new skill.
- Work alongside a supportive team of experts.
- Contribute to, follow and implement key pieces of information relating to pupils such as Relational Support Plans, Sensory Differences Profiles, Individual Pupil Risk Assessments and Pupil Passports.
- Use a trauma‑informed approach when supporting pupils.
- Adapt tasks flexibly to meet school needs.
- Work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with pupils and colleagues.
- Take ownership of tasks.
- Support the learning of small groups of students.
- With training, deliver Reading, Writing, Phonics and Writing to small groups.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- A desire to work with pupils on the autistic spectrum.
- A willingness to learn more about Autism and other diagnosed Special Educational Needs.
- Strong working knowledge of SEN.
- Willingness to undergo training to become a paediatric first aid.
- Recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification and GCSE Maths and English at Level 4 or above (or recognised equivalent).
- Commitment to supporting children and young people with special needs.
- Commitment to safeguarding pupils.
- Fluent English (essential).
