An exciting opportunity to be part of a national enforcement agency has arisen within Birmingham City Council’s Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT). The IMLT investigates unlicensed money lenders (Loan Sharks). Administered in Birmingham, the team operates on an agile and flexible basis across the UK and is funded by Central Government. The team works closely with other Local Authorities, the Police, and other agencies. The IMLT has two enforcement teams and an intelligence department made up of specialist investigators.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out complex criminal investigations and enforce delegated legislation
- Have ownership of an individual caseload and work alongside other investigators to conduct enforcement action
- Work outside normal working hours, including overnight out of town
About You
- Full driving licence
- Experience conducting complex investigations in specialist areas of criminal investigation
- Interviewing suspects in accordance with PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984)
- Dealing with the public face‑to‑face
- Knowledge of intelligence‑based systems
- Writing statements and reports to a high standard
- Operating for periods of time with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and partner agencies
