Birmingham City Council’s Careline Service supports approximately 9,000 citizens across the city to live safely and independently in their own homes through technology-enabled care solutions. We are seeking creative, flexible, and resilient individuals to join our dynamic frontline service as a Careline Supervisor, leading a team delivering a vital 24/7 support function.

About the Role

This is a key leadership role within our frontline service, where you will manage a team of 17 staff, some of whom operate across a rolling shift pattern (12 hours 40 minutes), including nights, weekends, and bank holidays. You will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of a responsive, high-quality service that supports vulnerable citizens during emergencies and helps prevent escalation of risk. While experience in technology-enabled care or working with older and vulnerable people is desirable, it is not essential — we welcome applicants who bring strong leadership skills and a commitment to making a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a frontline intervention and prevention service within a 24/7 Assistive Technology Care environment
  • Oversee the response to incoming alarm calls from citizens using mobile or home-based assistive technology
  • Ensure timely and appropriate emergency support and intervention
  • Drive a proactive approach to prevention, reducing repeat incidents through:
    • Effective referrals
    • Signposting to appropriate services
    • Providing clear advice and reassurance
  • Support, motivate, and develop your team to maintain high performance and resilience in a fast-paced environment
