Are you friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate about making a difference? Birmingham City Council is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of Care Assistants – Drivers at day opportunity centres located across the city. We provide vital day services for adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, complex health needs and autism.

Locations:

  • Alderman Bowen – Bordesley Green
  • Ebrook Day Centre – Sutton Coldfield
  • Elwood Day Centre – Erdington
  • Hockley Skills and Development Centre – Hockley
  • Moseley Day Centre – Moseley

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport service users to and from their homes, day centres, and community activities.
  • Provide personal care and support within the centre setting.
  • Represent Birmingham City Council with professionalism and compassion.

What We’re Looking For

  • A caring and sensitive approach to supporting adults’ physical and social needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, flexible, and self-motivated.
  • Commitment to equality and inclusion.
  • Age 21+ with at least two years’ experience.
  • Possession of a Category D1 licence is desirable but not essential – training will be provided during the 6-month probationary period.
  • Willingness to complete the MIDAS driver training (funded by BCC).

All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the individuals we support.
