A permanent position as an Attendance and Data Coordinator is available at Birmingham City Council, with a salary range of £35,412 - £41,771. The role involves working 36.5 hours per week in a hybrid capacity, requiring attendance at council buildings as needed.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing and supervising team members, including allocation, monitoring workloads, appraisals, and associated HR processes.
- Ensuring the team supports families and advises parents/carers of their legal responsibilities regarding children not in receipt of education, in line with statutory regulations.
- Assisting in the implementation and management of systems and processes to coordinate data management and extraction to report on key performance indicators.
- Liaising with all customers and colleagues on matters concerning individual cases, operating with a high degree of confidentiality.
- Managing the part-time/reduced timetable notification process, ensuring guidance and online forms are up to date and fit for purpose.
- Supporting Attendance Support Officers, schools, BCC services, and other agencies to identify children not receiving education, including identifying and securing school places.
- Producing internal guidance to assist team members in their work and ensure that all allocations are fair and transparent.
- Preparing and producing Penalty Notices and School Attendance Order paperwork, advising staff as appropriate.
- Setting up and maintaining all legal intervention administrative systems, including part-time timetables, ensuring statutory timescales are met.

- Experience with extensive computerised systems, particularly word-processing packages, databases, and spreadsheets.
- A proven ability to manage conflicting demands and make appropriate decisions while working in partnership with other agencies.
- The capability to work independently within clear guidelines and effectively in a collaborative team environment.
