Birmingham City Council is looking for an Associate Major Procurement Programme and Projects Office Practitioner to join our newly established Major Procurement Programmes and Projects Office (MPPPO).

Working within a team that provides governance, assurance and coordination for major procurement activity, you'll play an important role in keeping projects on track.

You'll provide administrative and project support, maintain accurate records, coordinate meetings and ensure colleagues have the information they need to deliver successful procurement programmes that benefit Birmingham's communities., As an Associate Major Procurement Programme and Projects Office Practitioner, you'll help ensure the smooth delivery of major procurement projects by:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for the Programme and Projects Office, responding to enquiries and directing requests appropriately.
  • Organising meetings, review panels and workshops, including preparing agendas, coordinating papers, taking minutes and tracking actions.
  • Maintaining project documentation, filing systems and contract records to ensure information is accurate, secure and up to date.
  • Updating project trackers, milestones, risk logs and programme documentation to support effective project governance.
  • Assisting with the production of project reports, dashboards and performance information.
  • Maintaining shared mailboxes, calendars and other team resources to support efficient programme delivery.
  • Supporting procurement programmes in line with the Council's governance, assurance and project management standards.

We're looking for someone who is organised, dependable and enjoys supporting projects in a fast-paced environment. You'll bring:

  • Experience in an administrative, project support or business support role with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience of handling enquiries, coordinating activities and providing excellent customer or stakeholder support.
  • The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel, and a willingness to learn new project management systems.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and developing your knowledge of procurement and project delivery.
