Birmingham City Council is looking for an experienced Applications and Allocations Team Leader to drive large‑scale housing acquisitions and regeneration schemes. The role will support planning, delivery and continuous improvement of allocation processes, manage shortlisting and coordination, and lead a team to ensure fair and efficient services across temporary accommodation and general needs housing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and delivery of allocations across major acquisitions and regeneration schemes.
  • Ensure homes are allocated fairly, efficiently and in line with the Council's priorities.
  • Coordinate Local Letting Plans and targeted allocation approaches.
  • Manage shortlisting and allocation processes to ensure accuracy, transparency and timeliness.
  • Work closely with Managers, Voids and Lettings teams, Temporary Accommodation services and Regeneration colleagues.
  • Support high‑profile, time‑critical programmes involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Use performance data and feedback to support continuous improvement and smarter ways of working.
  • Help build capacity within the service while protecting day‑to‑day delivery.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in housing allocations, lettings or a similar customer‑focused service.
  • A strong understanding of allocation processes and the challenges within social housing.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Confident working collaboratively with a range of teams and stakeholders.
  • Analytical and detail‑focused, with the ability to work with performance data.
  • A proactive approach, with the flexibility to adapt to changing demands.
