About the Role
We are looking to recruit proactive and customer-focused Allocations & Applications Officers to join our busy Housing Allocation & Application Service. You will be responsible for assessing housing applications, determining eligibility for the Housing Allocation Scheme, and matching customers to suitable properties. This is a rewarding role where you will make fair and lawful decisions that have a direct impact on people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess housing applications in line with legislation and council policy
- Determine eligibility and notify customers of decisions within required timescales
- Manage shortlisting, allocation and matching of properties
- Carry out investigations and background checks to support decision-making
- Maintain accurate case records in line with data protection requirements
- Provide advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders
- Support vulnerable customers and make appropriate referrals to partner agencies
- Review and approve property adverts
- Contribute to case preparation for reviews and legal proceedings
About You
- Experience in housing or a similar customer-facing role
- Able to manage complex and sensitive situations
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Confident using IT systems and databases
