Birmingham City Council is looking for an Associate Reporting and Performance Lead to join our newly established Transformation, Reporting and Intelligence team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how performance is measured across one of the UK's largest local authority procurement functions. You'll develop reporting frameworks, provide strategic insight and ensure leaders have the information they need to make informed commercial decisions. Working at the heart of Commercial and Procurement Services, you'll help embed a culture of evidence-based decision making, continuous improvement and accountability.

About The Role

As an Associate Reporting and Performance Lead, you'll play a key role in developing the Council's commercial intelligence capability by:

• Developing and maintaining performance reporting frameworks that measure procurement performance against strategic priorities and organisational objectives.
• Producing high-quality management information, dashboards and performance packs that provide meaningful insight for senior leaders and governance boards.
• Analysing complex procurement, supplier, contract, spend and financial data to identify trends, risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Working with colleagues across Commercial and Procurement Services to improve data quality, strengthen reporting processes and establish a trusted single source of information.
• Supporting audit, assurance and governance activity by providing accurate evidence, reporting and performance analysis.
• Using commercial intelligence to monitor strategic priorities, including social value, ESG, supplier performance and value for money.
• Leading and developing team members while promoting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and data-driven decision making.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong analytical capability with excellent stakeholder management skills. You'll bring:

• Experience designing and delivering performance reporting frameworks, management information and business intelligence solutions.
• Advanced data analysis skills, including extracting, manipulating and interpreting large datasets using Excel and reporting or visualisation tools.
• Experience working within regulated or governance-led environments, ensuring reporting is accurate, compliant and evidence based.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to translate procurement objectives into meaningful performance measures.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, presenting complex information clearly to senior leaders and a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience improving data quality, developing reporting processes and embedding robust governance across performance information.
• Proven experience leading or developing colleagues, with a commitment to continuous professional development and high performance.
