This is an exciting opportunity to help shape how partners work together to provide earlier, more effective and joined-up help for children and families across Birmingham. As part of the national reforms to Children’s Social Care, Birmingham is developing new approaches to Family Help and Multi-Agency Child Protection. At the heart of this is our ambition to strengthen Early Help and build a joined-up partnership offer within our districts, making it easier for families to get the right help, from the right people, at the right time.

Our work is focused on three shared priorities:

  • Keeping Families Together
  • Improved Education Attendance
  • Good Early Years Child Development

We are offering five 18-month secondment and Fixed Term Contract opportunities, open to colleagues from across our core partner organisations. You’ll work as part of the Birmingham Families First programme team, alongside district partners, to develop, test and embed new ways of working that bring organisations together around children and families and make the best use of our collective skills, knowledge and resources.

We’re looking for people who are:

  • Passionate about improving outcomes for children and families
  • Collaborative and able to work across organisational boundaries
  • Confident at building relationships and bringing people together
  • Able to turn ideas into practical and sustainable ways of working
  • Curious, adaptable and willing to test, learn and improve
  • Committed to keeping children and families at the heart of change

You don’t need to have worked as a project manager before. We’re looking for people with the energy, experience in partnership working and commitment to help us build lasting change across Birmingham. This is your opportunity to help shape a stronger, more joined-up Early Help and partnership system for Birmingham’s children and families.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.

Please note as part of our onboarding process, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a series of background checks with Experian including Experian DBS, Experian Right to Work, and Digital ID verification. These are essential pre-employment requirements.

Interviews will take place week commencing 23 November.

Our Benefits:

  • A generous annual leave package of 30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 5 years of service and 35 days after 10 years of service.
  • Free on-site parking at our offices on One Avenue Road (Aston) and Lifford House (Stirchley).
  • Full access to our amazing internal employee benefits scheme including Occupational Health services, Rewards Schemes, Benefits discounts (including the Blue Light Card), Health & Fitness and Personal Wellbeing support and much more!
  • Flexible and hybrid working policy - we are well adapted to a hybrid model of working which includes a combination of time spent in the office and at home and we offer a variety of working patterns.
  • Pension Scheme - You will receive a generous local government career average pension scheme in line with the local government pension scheme.
