About Edgewood Road
Located in Kings Norton, Edgewood Road is a specialist long‑stay/short break home providing care for children with a range of learning disabilities. Our aim is to create a nurturing environment where children can develop the skills and confidence they need for day‑to‑day life. We support children with emotional well‑being, health, and social needs, tailoring our care to meet their individual requirements. We have been rated “Good” by Ofsted following a 2025 inspection.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to each child’s unique needs and preferences.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where children feel valued and empowered.
- Utilise a range of communication and visual aids to ensure children can express their wishes and feelings.
- Collaborate with parents, schools, social workers, and other professionals to ensure consistency and progress in children’s development.
- Encourage and empower children to become as independent as possible, supporting them with everyday tasks such as preparing food, personal hygiene, and self‑care.
- Maintain regular communication with school staff to promote continuity and development.
- Organise activities tailored to the individual needs of the children.
Requirements
- Experience working with children with learning disabilities, autism, complex health conditions, and challenging behaviour.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience in using communication aids.
- A compassionate and patient approach, with a commitment to providing high‑quality care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with co‑workers, a range of professionals and stakeholders.
- Relevant qualifications in childcare are desirable.
