An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced psychologists and social workers who are keen to support children and young people who display sexually harmful behaviour, to join our Safer Connections Service (SCS). We are keen to invite those with a clinical or forensic psychology qualification and senior social workers to join our developing team.
The SCS team sits alongside the Therapeutic Emotional Support Service (TESS) delivering consultation, assessment, intervention and support to children and young people who display harmful sexual behaviour between the ages of 7-17 years. The SCS team adopts a multi-agency approach and delivers bespoke and tailored interventions and programmes of education and support to children, young people and their parents and caregivers, regarding harmful sexualised behaviours.
The team is currently comprised of a Team Manager and 3 Clinical Practitioners, and 2 HSB Practitioners. We are looking to recruit 2 additional team members from a social work and applied practitioner psychology background, who can demonstrate their experience and skills in understanding vulnerable children, young people and their families and supporting them to respond to and manage risk of harmful sexualised behaviour and to make positive changes towards healthy and safe relationships.

- Work directly with children, young people and their families who have experienced significant adversity and traumatic experiences.
- Have experience of working alongside children who display harmful sexualised behaviours or a passion to develop in this unique area of practice.
We will provide you with access to training, regular professional supervision, and on-going support. Previous experience working with children and young people with presentations relating to harmful sexual behaviour would be beneficial. However, we are also keen to hear from psychologists and senior social workers from other specialties with skills in formulation, assessing and managing risk, and have the ability to look beyond behaviour.
Experience working with children and young people who have histories of early adversity, social care or youth justice involvement, childhood trauma and or significant attachment disruption would also be desirable. We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate an interest in evidence-based practice and research and who are keen to develop their knowledge and skills within this specialism.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham and have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.
We offer a generous annual leave package of 30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 5 years of service and 35 days after 10 years of service. We pay your Social Work England registration fee, DBS application fee and reimburse your update service fee.
