An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Deputy Team Leader within HMP Birmingham to join the Birmingham Recovery Team. We are looking to recruit highly motivated individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality and compassionate care within a unique environment.

About the Birmingham Recovery Team

The team provides the clinical substance misuse service at HMP Birmingham. The role involves assessing, planning, and treating prisoners with substance/addictions-related issues. As an integrated healthcare service, we work collaboratively with the Psychosocial team, Primary Care, and Mental Health teams. This is an exciting time for the team, and we seek a dynamic individual eager to bring fresh ideas and help evolve the service. The role offers opportunities for leadership and management experience, including staff supervision and support. Given the current period of change within the prison, this role provides a chance to be part of significant developments at a management level.

Candidate Requirements

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to set and manage own work agenda in line with Trust and HMPPS policies
  • Registered Nurse qualification
  • Experience working in a challenging, dynamic, and recovery-focused environment
  • Minimum of 12-18 months experience at Band 5
  • Desirable: experience within secure and offender healthcare
  • Security enhanced level 1 clearance (required for employment)

Additional Benefits

The post includes an environmental allowance of £1,542 per annum.
