Birmingham Airport is entering a major phase of transformation, and we’re looking for a Senior Programme Lead to shape and deliver a portfolio of capital development projects that will influence the experience of millions of passengers. You’ll lead complex programmes, guide multidisciplinary teams, and help ensure our investment plans align with the Airport Master Plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team delivering a rolling portfolio of capital projects
- Deputise for the Head of Development and support the wider Capital Investment Programme
- Oversee gateway milestones, governance, and alignment with the Airport Master Plan
- Shape contract and delivery strategies, including NEC4 documentation
- Manage risk, reporting, project controls, and stakeholder engagement
- Drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Experience Required
- Strong background in airport development or complex infrastructure environments
- Proven track record delivering major projects and programmes
- Deep understanding of governance, project controls, risk, and planning
- Experience with NEC4 contracts and CDM/Building Safety Act requirements
- Skilled communicator able to simplify complex issues for diverse audiences
- Confident leader with experience managing multidisciplinary professional teams
Desirable Experience
- Working towards or holding membership of a relevant Chartered Body
- PRINCE2 or APM qualification
- CSCS card holder
- CITB Site Safety Plus Certificate
- Postgraduate degree in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or Business
- Understanding of business case finance models and cost‑benefit analysis
- Ability to produce well‑structured business cases focused on benefits and outcomes
