We are looking for a proactive and collaborative Construction and Compliance H&S Manager to join our Health, Safety and Fire Team at Birmingham Airport. This role will support and business partner our Development Team with a dotted line to the Head of Development. This role will play a key part in ensuring that our ambitious development programme is delivered safely but at pace, ensuring everyone’s safety, including the millions of passengers who pass through our airport annually.
You will play an important role in providing professional advice, supporting statutory compliance, and contributing to strategic safety initiatives and cultural change across the wider airport community. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on safety performance and culture within a dynamic and fast‑paced airport environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as a health and safety generalist, supporting the management of health, safety and fire risks.
- Business partner the Development Team and ensure Birmingham Airport effectively discharges its client duties.
- Support the Development Team to ensure Birmingham Airport contractors effectively manage their risks and the associated risks to our passengers which may arise from any works.
- Deliver practical, proportionate health and safety advice in a complex, high-risk environment.
- Ensure accidents and incidents are appropriately investigated and actions agreed and tracked.
- Undertake assurance activities, including audits, to ensure compliance with set standards.
- Support the development and delivery of health and safety training aligned to risk profiles.
- Produce reports, action plans and policy documentation to support compliance and improvement.
- Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge and continuous professional development.
- NEBOSH National Diploma, or equivalent.
- Experience of working in a similar role.
- Experience of CDM / Development works and projects.
- Good understanding of a range of health, safety and fire legislation, including an awareness of the application and management of CDM.
- Experience of providing health and safety advice and support.
- Experience of undertaking audits.
- Previous experience of implementing health and safety legislation and developing best practice.
- Ability to provide targeted and competent health and safety advice to a range of users.
- Previous experience of managing people.
- Airport or transport experience (but not essential).
