This Security Operations Lead role will sit within SBX, working closely with the Birkin team to shape, develop and deliver a modern, technology-enabled security offering across the UK.
This is a key operational leadership opportunity for someone who can combine strong security operations experience with a passion for service excellence, compliance, innovation and continuous improvement.
You will take ownership of day-to-day service delivery, contract mobilisation, workforce leadership, client relationships, operational performance and budget control, while supporting the implementation of technology-enabled and AI-driven security solutions.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Security & Innovation, and working alongside the Birkin operational team you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, performance and delivery of SBX Security operations.
The role will cover operational leadership, contract management, mobilisation, workforce planning, client service, compliance, governance, assurance, performance reporting, budget management and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of SBX Security operations across multiple contracts, sites and operational environments.
- Ensure all services are delivered safely, effectively and in line with client requirements, contractual obligations, agreed KPIs and company standards.
- Manage operational performance, service quality, customer satisfaction and contract compliance across the security portfolio.
- Lead the operational mobilisation of new security contracts from award through to business-as-usual delivery.
- Develop and manage mobilisation plans covering recruitment, vetting, training, uniforms, equipment, technology, site documentation and operational readiness.
- Lead, manage and develop supervisors, team leaders, security officers and associated operational staff.
- Maintain strong client relationships, conduct service reviews and act as a senior escalation point for operational issues, incidents and service failures.
- Work closely with the Head of Security & Innovation to support the implementation of new technologies, AI-enabled security solutions, remote monitoring capability and improved operational processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Security Industry Authority requirements, GDPR, data protection, health and safety obligations and company governance standards.
- Conduct audits, site inspections, compliance reviews and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Monitor and report on operational KPIs, performance measures, service risks, workforce performance and contract outcomes.
- Manage operational budgets, labour costs, overtime, agency usage, recruitment expenditure and resources to support strong financial performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, efficiency, productivity, margin performance and client outcomes.
- Support tender submissions, contract renewals, pricing models and new service propositions with practical operational insight.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, safety, compliance, innovation and continuous improvement across SBX Security.
About you
- You have significant experience in security operations management, with a strong understanding of operational service delivery.
- You are confident managing multiple contracts, locations, teams and client relationships.
- You can lead people effectively, develop supervisors and frontline teams, and create a culture of accountability, professionalism and service excellence.
- You understand how compliance, governance, assurance and operational standards support safe and effective service delivery.
- You are comfortable managing mobilisation activity, operational change and the transition from contract award into live service delivery.
- You bring strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets, labour costs, resources and operational performance.
- You can produce clear operational reports, interpret performance data and use insight to drive improvement.
- You are confident working with senior stakeholders, clients, suppliers, support functions and technology partners.
- You are interested in how technology, AI-enabled security systems, remote monitoring and automation can improve operational performance and client outcomes.
- You hold an SIA Licence and/or a relevant security management qualification.
- You hold a full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable experience
- Experience within facilities management, education, commercial, public sector or complex multi-site environments.
- Experience with CCTV, control room operations, alarm receiving centres, remote monitoring or technology-enabled security services.
- Understanding of AI-enabled security systems, video analytics, intelligent CCTV, workforce management systems or operational reporting platforms.
- IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
- Experience supporting bids, tenders, contract renewals, mobilisation planning or service improvement projects.
- Knowledge of GDPR, data protection, surveillance requirements and security industry best practice.
