Overview
In this role you will manage costs matters within the Litigation Costs team, drafting and assessing Bills of Costs, and advising on settlement parameters. You will lead cost budgeting, prepare essential documentation, and supervise junior colleagues to maintain accurate cost data. You’ll stay current with costs rules and support the wider team with strategic costs guidance. Responsibilities
- Prepare/Assess Bills of Costs and draft Points of Dispute/Replies
- Advise clients on settlement parameters and negotiate with opponents
- Costs management including Precedent H/Precedent R and simplified costs budgeting
- Prepare Statements of Costs
- Provide ad hoc advice on costs issues
- Keep abreast of legal updates and inform the team
- Maintain accurate time-costing procedures
- Ensure compliance with file management
- Provide supervision to team members
Key requirements
- Ambitious, driven and forward-thinking
- Strong academic background
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience
- Clear understanding and application of civil procedure rules relating to costs
- Costs negotiation experience essential
- Experience of social housing disrepair and/or Court of Protection preferable
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical/organizational skills
- Committed team player with ability to meet tight deadlines
- Able to use own initiative and exercise sound judgment
- Strong IT skills with Microsoft Office and document management
