The Yard Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based at our West Midlands depot. Reporting to senior management, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and organised day-to-day running of the yard. This is a hands-on position, combining practical yard duties with the supervision and coordination of yard activities. You will oversee the loading, unloading, sorting, storage, and preparation of timber bog mats, ensuring customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. Working closely with yard operatives, drivers, logistics teams, and management, you will help maintain high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping while supporting a positive and productive working environment. The role includes operating telehandlers, completing basic operational records, and identifying opportunities to improve yard processes and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation of the yard and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate and allocate tasks across the yard team.
- Operate telehandlers and assist with loading and unloading vehicles.
- Oversee the sorting, storage, inspection, and preparation of bog mats for hire and sale.
- Maintain accurate stock records and support regular stock checks.
- Ensure the yard remains clean, organised, and compliant with company safety standards.
- Liaise with transport and logistics teams to meet delivery and collection schedules.
- Assist with the maintenance and servicing of yard equipment.
- Complete operational paperwork and basic reporting as required.

- Previous experience supervising or coordinating teams within a yard, construction, logistics, manufacturing, or operational environment.
- Practical experience working in a yard or outdoor operational setting.
- Good understanding of health and safety practices.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, drivers, and customers.
- Basic IT skills, including email, spreadsheets, and record keeping.
- Ability to work outdoors throughout the year and undertake physical duties when required.
- Experience with stock control and inventory management would be beneficial.
- Experience within construction, timber products, plant hire, or logistics would be advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
