Birkbeck, University of London is hiring a User Services Assistant for a part‑time (12 or 18 hours a week) role for the summer of 2026. The position is permanent and offers a full‑time equivalent salary of £28,502 – £31,234 per annum on a pro‑rated basis. The role is in‑person only and does not offer home working.
Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality IT and library customer service at the service desk and respond to online and in‑person enquiries.
- Assist with students’ induction and orientation.
- Carry out communication and marketing activities, including social media and the creation and maintenance of user guides.
- Cover the online and in‑person enquiry service on the following rota: Monday and Tuesday 6 p.m. to midnight (12 hrs a week) or Thursday, Friday and Saturday 6 p.m. to midnight (18 hrs a week).

Contract
Open‑ended, permanent contract. Salary is pro‑rated according to the rota chosen: 12 hrs a week (0.34 FTE, £9,691–10,612 per annum) or 18 hrs a week (0.51 FTE, £14,536–15,929 per annum).
