Birkbeck, University of London, is looking for a dedicated Student Support Officer to join our Student Support & Wellbeing team and play a key role in supporting students with disabilities and mental health needs.
Responsibilities
- Respond to student queries and identify when to refer complex cases to specialist advisers
- Meet students and arrange agreed reasonable adjustments
- Support students through the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) application process
- Ensure accurate, confidential, and timely record‑keeping
- Work collaboratively across departments to ensure reasonable adjustments are implemented.
Qualifications
- Experienced in a customer‑facing environment, able to respond accurately and sensitively to incoming queries
- Organised, with good attention to detail and comfortable following established processes
- Able to handle confidential information with professionalism, and work within agreed boundaries of practice
- Experienced in scheduling, diary management, and minute‑taking – especially for sensitive meetings.

Salary and benefits
- £31,234 rising to £34,827 per year, Grade 4 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract
- Permanent contract. Full‑time (35 hours a week, FTE) or part‑time (minimum 0.6 FTE) – please indicate a preference.
