Are you an administrator with excellent IT and organisational skills, who is eager to learn, develop new skills and provide a crucial part in maintaining our Student visa sponsor licence? Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a Student Immigration Compliance & Advice Officer this Summer 2026.
As Birkbeck's Student Immigration Compliance & Advice Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the activities of the International Student Administration team (ISA) within Registry Services. You will work with experienced team members and be responsible for administrative activities related to maintaining the university's Student Visa sponsor licence. You will also be trained to complete ongoing international student support tasks, including providing basic immigration advice, and supporting colleagues across the university with information on areas related to international students. The role involves close collaboration with multiple teams across Birkbeck, including academic departments, Finance, External Relations and within Registry Services. You will have daily contact with international applicants and students by email and by phone.
Responsibilities
- Support activities of the International Student Administration team (ISA) within Registry Services.
- Perform administrative tasks related to maintaining the university's Student Visa sponsor licence.
- Complete ongoing international student support tasks, including providing basic immigration advice.
- Support colleagues across the university with information on areas related to international students.
- Process Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) and undertake routine compliance checks, including cross-checking data, running reports and updating internal records.
- Maintain high attention to detail and manage high volumes of work and multiple priorities.
- Communicate clearly and regularly with team members and other stakeholders; work independently as needed.
Qualifications
- Relevant administrative experience with the ability to manage high volumes of work and multiple priorities.
- Proactive problem-solving approach and interest in international education.
- Experience in Admissions Officers or Assistant Compliance Officer roles is advantageous.
- Excellent IT and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work with diverse teams and provide clear information to international students.
Salary and Benefits
Β£31,234 rising to Β£34,827 per annum. Grade 4 on the College's London Pay Scale, including a consolidated London Weighting Allowance. Contract
